Colin Craig appointed Prairie Director
Lee Harding appointed to Director of New Development
REGINA / EDMONTON / WINNIPEG: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Craig as CTF spokesperson for the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Mr. Craig’s new title will be Prairie Director and will serve in that capacity from his office in Winnipeg with regular trips to Saskatchewan.
The CTF is also pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Harding to the newly created position of Director of New Development. Mr. Harding has served as the CTF’s Saskatchewan director since October of 2007.
As Manitoba director since April 2008, Mr. Craig has established himself as an outspoken promoter of lower taxes and a relentless watchdog on government waste. Colin’s freedom of information requests helped lead to the exposure of $160 million dollars in dam consultation costs. Colin also exposed and put a stop to “show up for work” bonuses at some child and family services agencies and led to the repayment of tax dollars spent by other agencies on manicures and pedicures. He also exposed over $25,000 worth of lavish gifts for the 2006 Western Premiers Conference held in Gimli, Manitoba.
“Over the past couple years Colin has been the CTF’s most effective user of freedom of information laws to dig up and expose government waste and mis-management,” said CTF National Communications Manager Scott Hennig. “We know he will work hard to ensure the concerns of CTF supporters in Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be clearly, intelligently, and forcefully articulated.”
These changes are the result of the need to dedicate full time resources to online advocacy. “Internet driven communication and advocacy is no longer a supplement to traditional forms of advocacy; indeed, it is the driver. Advocacy groups that best realign their resources to effectively utilize online tools and strategies are the ones that will remain relevant and successful into the future,” said CTF President Troy Lanigan. “Lee has been at the forefront of utilizing these new on-line technologies and as such is the ideal candidate to take on these new responsibilities.”
Both Lee Harding and Colin Craig will be meeting with Saskatchewan Finance Minister Rod Gantefoer on Monday, December 7th to present the CTF’s pre-budget recommendations.
